I was mesmerized at how unnatural these guys move. The site where I picked this video up from didn't have any description regarding the group performing.

So if you know the name of this group, let me know! I'd love to see more of their presentations.

My Chem is going to do the ending for my most anticipated film of this year.

My "like" for the band started coz' of my cousin who loves listening to noisy "emo" music like theirs. The band's got this vibe in them which kinda hits that place in your head and your heart where you simply just want to feel... "noisy". I can't explain all that well either but there's something very artsy and unique about their music... Their dark, Tim Burton-ish videos probably has something to do with it.

"Like" turned to Respect when I found out that Gerard Way, the frontman and co-founder of the band My Chemical Romance is also the writer of the 2008 Eisner Award for Best Finite Series/Limited Series, "The Umbrella Academy". He also pitched a rejected cartoon to Cartoon Network. It got rejected but I don't know about you guys... I think it takes some serious chops for you to be the lead man (as well as the songwriter) of a superstar band and be the writer of an Eisner Award winning comic book at the same time. Pure, solid talent.

Photobucket

This "like" and "respect" seems to be climbing up to the levels of love after I've learned that they were requested to do the ending song for Zach Snyder's movie adaptation of Alan Moore's award-winning graphic novel Watchmen. I say Wow.

Desolation Row was originally sung by Bob Dylan.

Haven't been any good movies out lately. Good enough to get me outta my lazy butt and watch in the cinehouse atleast.

I wasn't a big fan of Transformers 1. The effects did blow me away but that's all it is - an effects movie. The plot was pretty dumb. It's something that you shut your brain while watching and open your eyes wide enough so you could get all the delicious hi-res eye candy being thrown at you straight to your brain to entice yourself enough to think that you're not wasting a moment of your life watching a popcorn movie like that. It's all in good fun and you'd be the dumb one if you're trying to get something deep out of that... Like I tend to do sometimes lol

That being said, I'm still pretty excited about this sequel. Transformers 1 was a fun ride, I don't see that changing here in part 2. I honestly don't know why a lot of geeks out there hate Michael Bay a lot when there are directors out there running around as shitty as Bret Ratner. All I know is Michael Bay knows how to put out a good ride - not us, nor the box-office can deny it. All I'm sayin' is TERMINATOR:SALVATION had better pull out their big guns if they want to take the throne away from Megatron.

Never been a fan of the turn-based genre... But it looks like I'll be playing Final Fantasy XIII just for the graphics alone. Looks epic. Super glad they decided to release it for the 360 :D

They're also re-releasing Final Fantasy: Advent Children for the Blu-Ray with a buncha extended clips. Wow.

Cool movie. Clint Eastwood is still a badass. I love his movies.

There are a couple of stuff I hated in this movie though...

All of them Hmongs' acting was really bad. A lot of the scenes in the movie felt really awkward coz of their acting. Especially from that wuss-boy Thao guy. It's like they were thinking of something else as they were saying their lines. The sneering and grunting from Clint Eastwood was a bit over the top too. Like he was trying to be Wolverine or something lol But he's still a badass.

It was really interesting and kinda funny to see how the grouchy-old-man attitude of Clint slowly softened as he started to care for his Hmong neighbours (Though a lot of the acting was really bad) Then everything started escalating towards chaos as they get involved with a maniacal butt-ugly gang. The film reached a point wherein you think you know how everything's gonna go down... Then came the spectacular ending. I just went wow at the end.

Got really excited when I saw this. It's pretty amazing that they're trying to build something like this in this lifetime. This will really open up a whole new dynamic in gameplay when the time comes.

Got my copy of the graphic novel YONDER that I worked on. I must say I'm not happy with how it came out. I told them not to sacrifice the quality of the book just to make the deadline. The cover is kick ass though, with some parts of the design embossed and stuff.

ReviewReviewReviewReviewThe Curious Case of Benjamin ButtonJan 11, '09 3:34 AM

The whole concept of the story was magical. The trailer for this movie just mesmerized me and I was amazed at the creativity behind writing a drama like this.

That being said, something about the movie really bored me. I don't know if I just wasn't in that good of a mood when I watched this or if I'm really just not a "drama" guy... But heck I was really bored in a lot of the scenes in the movie. It's a beautiful film but something was really missing. A big part of it might be the score. I didn't feel it. It could also be the pacing of the whole thing that bogged me down. They all seemed to be moving and talking in slow motion. I'm not sure how Brad Pitt got nominated as best actor for the role either. He really didn't do much acting in the film.

The best part about the film - The effects. You can't tell anymore which parts are CG and which parts are real... Except those baby scenes, it's still pretty obvious that those parts are 3D. And that part wherein his father was running away with Benjamin as a baby - animatronics. A lot of the scenes involved using someone else's body and placing a 3D head of Brad Pitt on that body. Yes, 3D head. Those scenes wherein Benjamin was really old - That wasn't make up. That was a fully 3D generated head. Everything looked so natural. Here's a feature article on the technology they used - http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=4848 I was really amazed at that part wherein Benjamin walked in and he was on his teens I think. He really looked like a freakin' teenager! And I think I read in the article that they were putting in Cate Blanchett's head on a dancer's body. I can't believe they can do all this now. They still used a lot of traditional make up effects... But OMG the 3D scenes were seamless.

I really liked the historical references they made in the film. It kinda made the whole story feel real. Like Teddy Roosevelt visiting the station; Benjamin's stepdad talking about his grandfather's friend killing Abe Lincoln; the Japs attack on Pearl Harbor; the Beatles... I guess I got bored of the film coz I was eagerly waiting to see how the heck Benjamin would die. It took a long time to get there. I was kinda wondering if he was going to be reduced to sperm or something lol xD I was really curious! ;P It got kinda freaky around that part wherein Benjamin turns into this violent-schizo kid and forgets everyone he knows. That part was kinda sad. Freaky and sad.

It was a pretty interesting ride, but the film just didn't touch me enough. I was really expecting to get swept away by the magic of the story but it just didn't happen for me. Eitherway, they made a new leap forward in the effects industry with this one. They can really do anything with 3D nowadays. Can't wait to see where they go next.

I love the poster upstairs.

VideoNINJA ASSASSINJan 6, '09 7:57 PM
for everyone
Saw this picture around the net and thought it looked really badass.

Didn't realize that the dude in the poster is the same guy that starred in the korean telenovela "FULL HOUSE" that my girlfriend back then obssessed about - this dude called "RAIN".

I'm not a telenovela guy so I pretty much hate every pretty boy that stars in cutesy-pansy dramas like those. I hate them even more when I find them trying to break out of their element and trying to be action heroes - VANNESS WU in "STAR RUNNER". Shit.

But this film "NINJA ASSASSIN" produced by the WACHOWSKI BROS, directed by JAMES MCTEIGUE (First Assistant Director to the Matrix Trilogy), and starring Full House's RAIN, looks to be something worth waiting for. Just check out their training reel at the bottom.

The story tells of an assassin waiting to exact revenge on his own clan for killing his best friend. Revenge story + Ninja Assassins never fails.

I wonder what you gotta eat to get from cutesy-pansy to having a body like what this dude Rain's got now...

VideoLEGEND OF CHUN-LI jap trailerDec 29, '08 9:23 PM
for everyone
I could almost hear the "Mooortaaaal Kooombaaaat!" scream in the background... It's sort of in the same level as the 1st MK. Except MK was waaay cooler just coz Scorpion and Sub Zero's in it. I was really fanboyed-out when the first Mortal Kombat movie came out. But looking back at it now, the movie really sucks - Bad acting; weak fight choreo; cheezy plot; a beauty queen as Sonya Blade... So to compare a movie being released today in the standards of something that MK was back then is really calling it fail.

Kristin Kreuk is really beautiful. But it doesn't look like she can really hurt anyone with any kind of kick or punch she'd try to throw. I always looked at Chun-Li as a flexible, asian Wonder Woman. Really powerful, intimidating. Not someone who looks like you'd want as a girlfriend. But who knows, this is an origin story, maybe Chun-Li is still in her jailbait years here or something.

Duncan as Balrog fits. He's a bull of a man. But I can think of somebody better.

Isn't Vega suppose to be a beautiful guy so obsessed with his face s'why he fights with a mask on?! Then why the heck is Taboo (Black Eyed Peas) playing him? Coz of the moves? That dude belongs to a Last of the Mohicans movie more than he belongs here as Vega. But I guess he's a beautiful dude... In an exotic kinda way hehe

I'm really not sure what race Bison is in the games but I'm pretty sure he's not the whitest guy in the planet. So I don't know wtf that's all about...

They shoulda gotten Jackie Chan who really actually looks kinda old to play Gen instead of bronze bodied Robin Shou (Liu Kang from MK1). Now they need to find an excuse for the bad make up in trying to make him look old.

This movie woulda been a heck of a lot more interesting if they've gotten real martial artists to play the roles of the fighters and just trained those guys to act... Instead of actors who can't really act that well anyway to play the roles of world-class fighters. They're all probably gonna rely on them stupid high-wire acts to pull of flips and stuff. Which is really lame. I mean Chris Klein as Nash... wtf's he gonna do? Wink and smile his opponent to death? They shoulda gotten guys like Kimbo Slice to play Balrog... or Donnie Yen to play Ryu or Fei Long or Dan... Tony Jaa to play as Adon or something... It woulda been more entertaining to see these guys who can actually beat up someone go at it in a movie. That being said, I think Jessica Biel woulda looked cool as Chun-Li. She woulda kicked Kreuk's ass that's for sure if they were to go bitch slap each other up.

They've put in a weak set of characters in the movie coz their stupid excuse is they're trying to create a story that makes sense. The effn' story is not that important in movies like these. It's the fight scenes that's gonna make this movie (and perhaps some Hadoken special effects here and there), not the story. That's why the series is called Street FIGHTER. Whytf isn't Ryu and Ken in it? Dumbasses.

Seems this remake's going to be another fail like Guile having a stupid French accent in the first movie being Van Damme. Van Damme can fight yeah... But he ain't no Guile. Looks like it's all down the drain with this one and that upcoming Dragon Ball : Evolution movie. Meh.

Stoooreeetooo Faytaah Phail!

Reign of Fire + Pathfinder + Chronicles of Riddick + a producer of the Lord of the Rings + a touch of Army of Darkness + Jesus in the lead role...

Really interesting formula... But it could still bomb big time as far as movies like these go...
